My Margdarshak App Privacy Policy

Last updated: 9 October 2026

My Margdarshak provides free learning materials for students in Classes 6–10. This policy explains how the My Margdarshak Android app handles information.

For privacy questions or deletion requests, contact mymargdarshak@gmail.com.

Access without registration

Students can select a class and access learning materials without entering their name, email address, phone number or password.

The current student experience does not create named student profiles or record individual chapter-completion progress. However, the app uses an anonymous authentication identifier and processes technical information as described below.

Information we process

Class selection and resource requests

The app saves your selected class on your device to remember your preference. When you browse learning materials, your selected class, subject, chapter and material category are included in requests to Google Cloud Firestore to retrieve matching resources.

Anonymous authentication

The app uses Firebase Authentication to authorise resource downloads. If there is no existing signed-in session, it automatically creates an anonymous Firebase account. This account has a unique identifier, but students do not need to provide contact details.

The app sends a Firebase authentication token to our Cloudflare file service to authorise access. “Anonymous authentication” means that no name or contact information is required; it does not mean that all technical information is anonymous.

Technical information

Google Firebase and Cloudflare process technical information needed to deliver, secure and troubleshoot their services. This may include IP addresses, user-agent information, request URLs, request times, response statuses and error information.

Files stored on your device

Learning resources are downloaded or loaded so you can view or listen to them. Audio files are saved temporarily on your device for playback. The app attempts to delete these temporary audio files when you close the audio screen.

Administrator information

Authorised administrators use a separate email-and-password login to manage learning resources. Firebase Authentication processes these login credentials, and administrator records are used to verify access.

Support messages

If you email us, we receive your email address and any information or attachments you include. Please avoid sending unnecessary personal information about children.

How we use information

We use information to:

  • Remember your selected class.
  • Retrieve and display learning materials.
  • Authenticate resource requests and restrict administrator access.
  • Investigate errors and protect the service against misuse.
  • Respond to support enquiries and privacy requests.

Service providers and sharing

We use Google Firebase for authentication and resource-database services, and Cloudflare Workers and R2 for file handling and delivery. Support emails are handled through Gmail.

These providers process information needed to operate their services. Their infrastructure may process information outside your country.

Further information is available here:

How long information is kept

Class preferences: Saved locally until you change them or clear the app’s stored data.

Anonymous Firebase accounts: We have enabled Firebase’s automatic cleanup. Accounts created after activation become eligible for automatic deletion once they are more than 30 days old. Accounts that existed when cleanup was enabled become eligible 30 days after activation. Deletion may occur later rather than exactly on day 30.

Firebase authentication logs: Firebase states that logged IP addresses are retained for a few weeks. Other authentication information is retained until account deletion is initiated, after which removal from Firebase’s live and backup systems can take up to 180 days.

Cloudflare Workers dashboard logs: We have disabled Workers Logs for our resource-download Worker. Previously recorded logs remain subject to Cloudflare’s applicable retention period. Disabling these logs does not stop Cloudflare’s separate service-level processing described in its privacy policy.

Administrator accounts: Kept while needed for authorised administration and removed when access is withdrawn.

Support emails: We delete support emails from our mailbox within 90 days after the enquiry is resolved, including removing them from Trash. Any residual provider backups follow the provider’s retention practices.

Your choices and deletion requests

You can change your selected class in the app. Clearing the app’s storage through Android settings removes locally saved preferences, files and session information. It does not itself delete a Firebase account or server-side logs.

To request access to or deletion of information, email mymargdarshak@gmail.com. A parent or guardian may contact us on a child’s behalf.

Because students do not provide names or contact details, we may need technical information to identify the relevant anonymous account. We will explain what is needed. Do not send passwords or authentication tokens.

Children’s privacy

My Margdarshak is designed for school students, including children. Students are not asked to provide personal contact details to access learning materials.

The anonymous authentication and technical processing described in this policy also apply when children use the app. Parents and guardians can contact us with questions or requests concerning their child’s information.

Security

We use HTTPS connections, Firebase authentication and administrator access checks to help protect information and restrict resource-management functions. No method of transmission or storage can guarantee complete security.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our information-handling practices change and revise the date above.
